“As a psychotherapist, my mission is to inspire clients to pursue joy, wellness, and self-discovery. For me, wings and roots are deeply symbolic. Wings spark courage and possibility, while roots provide strength and connection. Together, they form the foundation for a life that is grounded, growing, and thriving.”
Jeff Watson, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Founder, Wings & Roots Counselling
Hello, I’m Jeff Watson—a husband, a son, and a proud father to two teenage boys who are growing into remarkable young men. My life has taken me down some fascinating roads, where I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with people from all walks of life; and each encounter has taught me something new about connection, resilience, and the human spirit.
I have my Masters of Divinity in clinical counselling, and A diploma in Child and Youth Work. 15 years, of my career has been dedicated to counselling youth and their families in schools, clinical settings, and community environments. Through my work Ive learned that Life can sometimes get complicated when we least expect it, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Often, the first step to turning things around is realizing you are not alone. When someone is: listened to, cared for, and encouraged in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment, life changing discoveries can be made. Building on your strengths, exploring your thought patterns and uncovering solutions that align with your goals and values is what therapy means to me. I would be honoured to be a resource for you on your journey towards healing, growth, and resilience.

My approach to couples counselling blends some of the methods I use with individuals—such as CBT, Narrative Therapy, and ACT combined with the evidence-based Gottman Method to couples counselling. Using the Sound Relationship Houseframework, I help couples build trust, deepen intimacy, and foster shared meaning, while addressing conflict constructively. By exploring the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling), we identify and transform harmful patterns of communication into opportunities for connection and understanding, creating a stronger, more resilient partnership.

Foundational to my practice, I believe clients should first focus on their Life Force, which Psychiatrist Phillip Stutz describes as the energy driving personal growth, healing, connection, and resilience, nurtured through three core relationships.
